ABOUT IC3

Certiport’s Internet and Computing Core Certification is the ideal certification for anyone that wants to demonstrate critical computer and Internet skills valued in today’s academic and professional environments.

Why be IC3 certified?

IC3 is the world's first global certification for digital literacy. It offers certification candidates the opportunity to demonstrate to employers and academic institutions a basic level of computer and Internet literacy.

IC3:

a) Provides core skills and knowledge necessary to use key computer applications and the Internet

b) Provides a CV-building standard certification as proof of successful completion of the program

c) Provides the foundation necessary to further enhance productivity and marketability with additional certifications

d) Gives individuals confidence and security in being part of today's digital world.

e) Is a global IT Qualification that proves proficiency in computing and internet knowledge skills

f) Is an internationally recognised symbol of digital literacy.

Computer Fundamentals

This module includes the knowledge and skills required to identify different types of computers, the components of a personal computer (including internal components, such as microprocessors) and how these components work together. The module also includes the knowledge and skills relating to computer storage as it applies to hardware components, like floppy and hard disks, and performance, as it applies to processor speed and memory.

Key Applications

This module includes the knowledge and skills required to perform functions common to all Microsoft Windows applications, with an emphasis on the common functionality between the two Microsoft Office applications, Word and Excel.  Elements include the ability to start and exit either the Word or Excel application, modify the display of toolbars and other on-screen elements, use online help, and perform file management, editing, formatting and printing functions common to Word, Excel and most Windows applications.

Living Online

This module includes the knowledge and skills required to identify common terminology associated with computer networks and the Internet, components and benefits of networked computers, the difference between different types of networks (LAN and WAN), and how computer networks fit into other communications networks (like the telephone network).

To achieve the IC3 Master you need to pass ALL THREE IC3 exams (NOT including the ICritical Thinking exam)

What is ICritical Thinking?

Critical Thinking is the only ICT literacy program to certify critical thinking skills in a technological environment.  It features real-time, simulated, scenario-based testing through a network of authorised Certiport Centers.

Critical Thinking also offers individual certification and credential verification, and individual, group and institutional reporting based on a globally defined ICT/digital literacy framework. And when paired with proven digital literacy and desktop computing and publishing programs such as the IC3, Microsoft and Adobe, Critical Thinking becomes part of a 21st-Century, work-readiness solution tailored to your specific needs.

GENERAL EXAM INFORMATION

The exams feature real-world assignments that are based on the way you actually use the Microsoft/Certiport/Adobe applications on your computer. Using an actual document, for example, you’ll be asked to perform a series of tasks that demonstrate your desktop computing skills.

How long does the exam take?

All exams take between 50 minutes and one hour.  Scoring of answers is based on the end result, not on the route or time taken to complete the task.  Errant keystrokes or mouse clicks will not count against your score, as long as you achieve the correct end result.

When will I get my results?

Your results are immediately displayed on-screen and a score report can be printed after the exam is completed.

Ergonomic Keyboard

If you use an ergonomic keyboard, please let us know when you book the exam.

Exam Certificates

Results can be printed immediately. Official certificates will be available to view/print from your Certiport account between 24-48 hours after successful completion of the exam.

Who is Certiport?

Certiport is the leading provider of global, performance-based certification programmes and services, designed to enable individual success and lifetime advancement through certification.

Established in 1997, Certiport is the exclusive worldwide administrator of the Microsoft, IC³ and Adobe certification programs. Certiport uses concurrent and simulation technologies

What is a Proctor Fee?

A Proctor Fee is paid to the Authorised Testing Centre for the hire of the room in order for you to sit your exam.  You may have an exam voucher purchased from another training provider. In this case, you will need to pay a proctor fee to use our Testing Centre to sit your exam or practice test
